Music Therapy Sessions

According to research by leading scientists, the brain has a remarkable capacity to modify its structural and functional organisation throughout life in response to changes in environmental stimuli.  Playing a musical instrument is an ideal multisensory activity which not only develops motor skills, but also promotes this neuroplasticity.

I offer the opportunity for students to jam with me or other musicians online or in person.  I play the drums in a band, DJ professionally and use music technology to write music.

Online Music Sessions
  • Jamkazam is an online music app, where you jam with others with any instrument or just vocals. There is a free version, but the version I recommend costs $10/month. It works like a kind of chatroom with video. You can send friend requests to other musicians, schedule sessions, or just join sessions in progress.

The following is an estimate of setup costs and assumes the client owns an instrument and a decent laptop/PC/Mac:

  • Option 1 for one vocalist/guitarist/drummer etc: An audio interface (£100), microphone(s) (£30 each) to sing, talk to other musicians, or mic-up their instrument, headphones (£20), fast internet connection via ethernet (NOT Wi-Fi). Plus £40 for cables. Total: £190 plus installation time.
  • Option 2: If you have an acoustic drum kit and you are keen on obtaining the perfect sound, or you want to jam with others in the same house, you may wish to upgrade the setup with more mics (£200), headphones (£20) and an 8-channel mixer with built-in audio interface (£200). Plus £40 for cables. Total: £460 plus installation time.
  • Installation time depends on where the router is because an ethernet cable needs to be run directly from it to the instrument/PC. Typically, this will take 2-3 hours.
  • I have no financial interests in Jamkazam
